A Comparative Evaluation of Antibacterial Efficacy of ‘Calcium Hydroxide Plus Points’ , ‘Activ Points’ and ‘Combi Points’ Against Enterococcus Faecalis in Endodontic Therapy: An In Vitro Analysis

چکیده
Bacteria and their products play a primary etiological role in the initiation and perpetuation of pulpo-periapical pathosis. The biological objective of root canal treatment is eradication of bacterial load from the root canal system. Despite the fact that all measures are being taken to achieve this goal, failures are still being reported [1]. The ability of certain microbes to form biofilms is one of the key factors in their pathogenesis of endodontic infection. These biofilms not only adhere strongly to the dentin but also penetrate deep into the dentinal tubules [2]. Also, there are certain bacteria which are, in general, resistant to many chemical reagents used in endodontic therapy.

Diode Laser and Calcium Hydroxide for Elimination of Enterococcus Faecalis in Root Canal
Introduction: The ultimate goal of endodontic treatment is to eliminate the bacterial infection in the root canal system. While mechanical debridement combined with chemical irrigation removes the bulk of microorganisms, residual bacteria are readily detectable in approximately one-half of teeth just prior to obturation. Laser light can be used to destroy bacteria. This in vitro study was perfo...
متن کاملAntimicrobial activity of extracts of calcium hydroxide points.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate in vitro the antibacterial effect of calcium hydroxide points by using a broth dilution test. Extracts of calcium hydroxide points and a calcium hydroxide paste (Calasept) were tested by using 2 facultative anaerobic bacteria, Streptococcus mutans (ATCC 27352) and Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29212). Saline solution was used as a control. Each tested age...

BACKGROUND To evaluate and compare in vitro the antibacterial efficacy of five antibiotics when added individually to five endodontic sealers against Enterococcus faecalis (EF). MATERIALS & METHODS This controlled trial with systematic allocation method was carried out to detect the combined antibacterial activity of five endodontic sealers (Kerr sealer EWT, Endomethasone, AH26, AH Plus, Roek...
متن کاملAntibacterial Effect of Calcium Hydroxide on Intraluminal and Intratubular Enterococcus Faecalis
INTRODUCTION Root canal treatment involves the elimination of intraradicular microorganisms. Calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)(2)] is the most widely used canal dressing material. Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) has been reported to be resistant to Ca(OH)(2) in-vivo. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of Ca(OH)(2) on the elimination of intraluminal and intratubular E. faecalis. ...

Background and Aims: Calcium hydroxide has a pronounced antimicrobial activity against most of the bacterial species found in infected root canals and endodontic infections. It is one of the most frequently used intracanal medications in endodontic therapy. The objective of this study was to determine the antimicrobial efficacy of six calcium hydroxide formulations (mixed with saline, lidocaine...
